COIN DESCRIPTION
The left profile of Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton balls in her hair is shown at the obverse side; the reverse side shows a bald eagle clutching an olive branch in one talon and a bundle of arrows in the other talon and the eagle is surrounded by “United States of America”, “One Dollar,” and “In God We Trust.”The Morgan dollar is special as it is the first coin to feature Lady Liberty with an American look, rather than the traditional Greek style, and her cap is adorned with wheat and cotton in honor of America’s agricultural history. The eagle has beautifully designed feathers. The olive branch he carries represents America’s desire for peace, and the bundle of arrows signifies America’s readiness to defend herself against attack.
