Une vraie poubelle. Elle coince toujours. A la première utilisation je n’ai même pas été capable d’avoir un rouleau de rempl que i la machine était coincé. De la vraie scrap.

I am sending this coin sorter back because it came to me all broke and damaged.

  3. Joshua Suslak

    Very easy to use

I didnt read the negative comments…. the coins got jammed right away and did not go into the assorted trays. Some coins stuck internally where you cannot get at them. I am returning it with coins still in it because i cannot get them out. IT IS AN AWEFUL PRODUCT. Anti jam…. LOL. I would get my money pack from that Patent.

I am guilty of being into gadgets way more than most people. Some of them turn out to be important time and energy savers and end up being a wise decision. Others end up in the back of a drawer never to be seen or touched again. So I have to admit this isn’t something that I had a pressing need to buy. I’ve owned maybe a dozen coin sorter gadgets and not one of them worked or was worth the effort to try to use them. I actually don’t even handle money that often, preferring to use plastic cards or electronic payments. But I do have a huge collection of pocket change going back many years that I wanted to convert to green cash and the last time I did that at one of those self-serve kiosks they took a forty-percent cut out of it. So basically I figured if this thing worked it would pay for itself.

Even though I don’t have a regular need for a coin sorter I still opted for the motorized one instead of the hand crank one, which probably would have made more sense. My reason was that the hand crank version didn’t state that it has an anti-jam mechanism and it seems numerous people had jamming issues. The other reason is that the gadget lover part of me just wanted to throw handfuls of coins into it and watch it figure out what to do.

    CONSTRUCTION

This sorter is made mostly of plastic but considering what it does that doesn’t seem to be a concern. I like that it has a plug-in electric motor rather than being battery operated. There isn’t a lot of visible moving parts and the videos I’ve seen make it look like it really isn’t very complicated inside. Note that the only visible moving part is the agitator stick in the coin hopper. Use reasonable care not to force or bend it, after all it is made of plastic.

    OPERATION

In operation you simply pull the drawer out in front and load a handful of mixed coins into the hopper on top and press the on button, and coins start falling into the clear plastic cylinders. Once each cylinder is full the excess falls into the front drawer when it can be reloaded again. You can remove the premeasured stack of coins and wrap them in any brand of coin wrappers and store them or take them to the bank.

If you have a substantial number of coins your better option is to buy some pre-formed paper coin wrappers so the coins can be made to fall directly into them. While you can use any brand of wrapper I suggest you use the ones sold by Royal Sovereign to keep things running smoothly and efficiently. You won’t save much by going with a generic brand and if you’re going to go to the effort to purchase an automated coin sorter why not do it right. I got the 504 assorted pack.

    HOW IT WORKS

In actual use I was fairly confident that most of my collection were domestic coins and no buttons or small batteries in the mix. Each batch I loaded went through cleanly and without jamming. What no one seems to have mentioned is that sorting coins is not a one-step process – you will always have more of one value than another and what happens is that one tube will fill up within seconds (usually the pennies) and then they will start spilling into the front drawer while the other tubes are filling more slowly. You don’t have much choice but to stop the machine, remove and that tube and seal the wrapper, put a new wrapper in, then scoop up the excess coins from the front tray and start the motor again. The entire process of going through 200 coins is nowhere near the claimed speed of about a minute but more like a half hour as you keep stopping, removing and wrapping the value that fills up fastest. When you do this for yourself even once you start to appreciate why the extra twenty bucks to get a motorized sorter was a good idea.

    ACCURACY

Because coins are not all the same, some may be worn or slightly bent or made of a different metal content, I don’t expect 100% accuracy from a simple device like this. And sure enough every so often it would short a tube of coins by one coin, never more. You can’t be expected to open each tube and count each coin, that would defeat the entire purpose of owning a coin counter, so I use an accurate scale to weight each filled tube. The tubes should weigh roll of pennies = 125g; roll of nickels = 200g; roll of dimes = 113.4g; roll of quarters = 226.8g.

Not going to lie. This is the exact same machine Walmart sells. Nothing against the Seller. I just usually use Amazon to get to things I cant find locally. Thats not the reason for my 4 stars.. Only reason is because it has somewhat of a jam issue. But would I buy this Exact same machine for the Exact same price on Amazon from this Exact Seller????? ABSOLUTELY YES! Regardless of the small jam issues here and there.. IT DOES ITS JOB! Im a Fair Consumer, not a negative internet pessimist who writes bad reviews and degrades everything in Life. Great Machine. Decently priced. Does its job. Saves me time and money. Certain stores and banks charge a fee for counting your loose change. Nice product. Slight jams occasionally but overall Nice machine. I hear, the larger more expensive machines function the Exact same way, only you get a few extra perks (i.e. speed, digital screen, extra coin sleeves). Oh and Fyi…If you feed this machine your Dirty Filthy gummed-up change, Yes It will Get jammed. Dont blame the machine. YOU be clean and CLEAN your money before feeding..LOL Sorry to all the folks who take offense to my Review. Im just a “Realist”..Ha! Nice Machine. Thanks

Out of every single purchase I have ever made on Amazon, I have never had a single bad experience except with this product. It doesn’t even come close to working as it should. I started by testing it out with 50 clean pennies I COUNTED ahead of time. The coins were not properly sorted, the pennies went into the nickel slot AND penny slot, the machine jammed (from only 50 pennies…come on). The wrapper also filled up before the pennies were even full so that you can’t even trust the count. Already I was working with a piece of garbage product, but I decided to throw in a bunch of coins and see what it did with them. It immediately jammed (again these are clean, newish coins) and wouldn’t fix itself as advertised. So I then had to figure out how to remove the jam. But there is NO WAY TO TAKE APART ANY OF THE PIECES. You can’t separate the overflow tray, you can’t lift the lid entirely off, you cant take out the whole sorter to remove the jam. I had coins going down into the power supply area, coins jammed in places you couldn’t reach, I ended up having to take the whole thing upside down and shaking it until most of the coins fell out, then I had to detach the back panel which, again, DOESN”T detach all the way and fish around for all the coins that fell back there. If I could give this product less than 1 star I would. Please do not buy this product and post negative reviews if you have had similar experience. I have never had such a shoddy product in my life, let alone one that costs nearly $50…

It’s confusing trying to figure out which of the many coin counters to get. This little machine fit my needs. Not wanting to spend hundreds of dollars, but sick of hand sorting since none of the banks will count your change any more, we went looking.
This machine is just as all the reviews say – it’s not nearly as fast as a bank machine, and as long as you feed it slowly and carefully watch the outflow, it works great. It’s best to have 2 people, so one can carefully feed very small quantities of change, and the other monitors and assists the coins flowing into the tube. Also as suggested, buy the pre rolled tubes. It’s going to take some time, allow around 40 minutes for a coffee can full of change.
If you try to go faster, or fill the hopper, it will jam for sure. And be careful to align the top of each roller with the top of each tube. If you do that, and stop the filling the machine as each tube fills, each roll will be perfectly filled. This machine should last you forever as long as you aren’t trying to use it as a business.
