    Works as advertised.

After storing loose change for 27 years and realizing that I wouldn’t have the patience to roll these coins by hand, I decided to look into coin sorters. I thought Coinstar at the local Walmart carried too high of a fee. I couldn’t bring myself to do it. It’s bad enough that I get less than 1% on my CDs and carry 15% on my credit cards. So I looked at what products were available. I watched some videos on Youtube and realized I may have more money in that loose change than I initially estimated. I decided to bite the bullet and buy this product. To my pleasant surprise, it paid for itself in the first half hour of use! The returns decreased as I hit a bunch of pennies. In order to catch up with Coinstar and break even with the fees, I’ll have to sort about $700 in change. I think that will happen next year, and I’m fairly confident it will last long enough to do that and then some. So just on long term savings, I think it’s a worthwhile product. It strikes me as reasonably built (sturdy enough). It jammed for a period of about a minute once then unstuck itself (in about 4 hours). It’s designed to easily get under the hopper to unjam it or remove inappropriate coins (regular screwdriver). It’s very fast when you pour in a good set of the coins. One note I should mention, my change had a lot of Canadian coins, so I went through more carefully than usual to remove them as well as safety pins, needles, buttons, and unrecognizable pieces of who knows what.

This exceeded my expectations. I used this after using another cheaper brand that I borrowed from a friend. Honestly I couldn’t imagine one working much better than another. I was mistaken.
This counts, and rolls the coins quickly and accurately. Almost too fast because it was hard to keep up with removing the roll inserting another coin roll, and putting it back in the machine. That whole process takes 10 seconds if you’re working swiftly. Before you finish one another is full. Each time the machine stops so that you can advance the tray, and remove the filled roll, and replace it with an empty one. For and additional $23 you get double the capacity and it advances automatically. That’s a huge time saver and gives enough time for you to remove and replace, without stopping the operation of the machine.
I purchased this for a fundraiser where we received a lot of change and I didn’t want to roll of the coins so it was a donation to the cause for me. So I really wanted to spend as little as possible. However, if you have enough change to consider this the additional cost will make the task that much faster.
$1200 worth of coins rolle and a total 5 jams. One coin had a something glued to it, there were a couple of silver dollars. I think there was only one jam that I couldn’t figure out why. I would say that the anti jamming feature works well. Even when it jams it’s very easy to clear they get caught in the same place. You pull it free and keep going.
The pre-rolled coin sleeves are bit more expensive but again worth every penny. If you had to do it side by side with the two different machines, like I did, you wouldn’t consider another system at this price point.
Most banks no longer offer coin counting for free, and require that you roll your coins before turning them in. As of this review CoinStar is charging 11.9%. If you anticipate having more than $557.82 worth of coins to roll over a lifetime then you’ll do better than CoinStar, and if you get the upgrade as recommended then your break even point would be $840.25.
    Definitely worth the money.

I bought one of these Royal Sovereign coin sorters 2 1/2 years ago. The first one broke quickly. It did not sort the coins, jammed easily or it shot the coins on the floor. I called them and they had me send it to them at my cost. They did NOT replace the item. Rather, they claim to have fixed it. Now, the sorter has broken again and it is clearly jammed. The patented anti jam technology does not work. So I checked out their customer assistance. There, it says that I may need to hire a professional to fix it. Really? You mean there are professionals available to fix this! Geez. Let me know where they are. For $199 and a product that I use maybe once a month for just small change, this is not a good product and the customer service seems to be even worse. I would not buy this product again. It should last much longer than this one does.

I had a large amount of change which I had accumulated over the years. I didn’t want to go to a coin machine and have them charge me 8% to count my change. So, I bought a Royal Sovereign and went to work. The cost of the machine, coin wrappers, and coin storage boxes came to less than 4% of the total and I still had the machine which I will probably donate to a church. The best way to feed the counter is gradually by hand. If you overload the hopper, the machine will jam. Also, if the coins are somewhat worn, as some of mine were, the machine will jam. I finally removed the hopper hold down screw at the back of the machine so I could clear the jams more easily. Although coin wrappers will fit in the plastic coin holders, I found it easier to slip the coins into the wrapper from the tube after they had been counted. One other benefit: The machine is fun to watch!
