  1. F. Bennardo

I just visited the freedom tower museum and was reminded of the touching story about the $2 bill there. It goes to show the lasting power of the $2 bill and all the emotions it delivers, just like this book and the documentary. A must read for those who have ever paused and reflected on a $2 bill

It’s amazing how the $2 bill is so intertwined with American history. So many people are walking around with one on their person with so many reasons as to why. There is so much rich history to understand about this currency. The book does a great job of collecting, organizing and describing a variety of these stories behind the history of the bill. The $2 bill is like the Forrest Gump of currencies. There is something for everyone in this book. I highly recommend it!

The two dollar bill has always seemed to be the underdog of U.S. currency and with a lot of mystique surrounding this hardly seen denomination. This book does an excellent job explaining the lore behind the two. It covers the historical aspect of the different types of two dollar bills created, many myths surrounding the bill, superstitions, and how people see and use the bill. Most interestingly, the author provides countless stories of how many of us personally connect with the two and the memories and emotions the bill evokes. It is a fascinating read and a book that I have been picking up a few times to read over and over again in order to learn more about the two dollar bill. The pictures and color printing are great with many fascinating examples the author includes in order to tell his story. The imagery is a standout of the book. There is a memorable story from a wife whose husband was tragically a victim in the 9/11 WTC collapse which involves a two dollar bill. I must say that connection is very moving and demonstrates how a simple banknote can have great meaning to individuals. If the two is special to you, or if you want to learn more about why this denomination is so popular then I would highly recommend this book as it truly is everything you need to know about the two.

If you’ve ever been intrigued or curious about $2 bills, I think you’ll love this book. It’s based upon the “The Two Dollar Bill Documentary” movie, but it’s a handy standalone guide regardless of whether you have seen the movie. The photographic reproductions are very high quality and are alone worth the purchase price.

Disclaimer: I am quoted a few times in the book and appeared in the movie, but I bought the book with my own money, and as a longtime admirer of the $2 bill I think this book is a great value for anybody.

We use hard cash all the time, and rarely stop to think about how the specific versions of the bills we have in our wallet came to their latest iteration. This book takes you on a deep dive into the origins and storied history of the $2 bill, which is vibrant and intriguing.

It dispels the many myths and superstitions that revolve around this low-circulation bank note, sheds light on the various aesthetic changes the $2 bill has gone through over its history, and details how the fabled $2 is used as a keepsake, talisman, and good luck charm.

This book is a companion piece to the $2 Bill Documentary; and its a worthy repository of information on this forgotten currency note.

The wait is finally over !!!
After seeing the movie a few years back, I couldn’t wait for the book to be released.
Just like the movie, the book contains valuable information and anecdotes of the $2 bill currency.
The book is a read for all ages and I guarantee you’ll enjoy it.

  7. Jerry Benjamin

This is a terrific book that could easily be dismissed as “merely educational” on a fun but ultimately trivial facet of Americana. Instead, here we have a highly entertaining piece that completely captures and encapulates why we all seem to find the 2 dollar bill so fascinating. In a time where we face a fractured, divided culture, this book presents us with something we all share, a unique area of common ground. This is a delightful, smart page-turner anyone can enjoy and everyone should find time to read.

Great read! I might be biased because John was my professor in college, but it was a small book packed with plenty of interesting details. Makes me appreciate my two dollar bills even more!
