1916 -1945 – 90% SILVER MERCURY DIMES BU MIXED DATES
The Mercury dime is also referred to as the Winged Liberty Head dime. The coin’s obverse depicts a young Liberty with winged Phrygian cap reminiscent of the Roman god Mercury. The coin’s reverse shows a bundle of rods, with battle-ax, known as “Fasces” symbolizing unity and strength, and a full-foliage olive branch signifying peace.
The Winged Liberty Head Dime or Mercury Dime was minted between 1916 and 1945. This coin was designed by Adolph A. Weinman, whose initials AW are located to the right of Miss Liberty’s neck.
This coin features a unique representation of Lady Liberty, with wings crowning her cap. The wings were meant to symbolize the liberty of thought.
